Saturn Isle’s natural ability was evident right from the beginning of his 20-start, 4-season career. He ran second on debut at Hanshin, then scored by 5 lengths at Kyoto, equaling the 2YO 1600-metre record of 1:32.3 set by Horse of the Year Vodka. A second win at Nakayama made his potential clear and he competed exclusively in Group company for the rest of his career.

Saturn Isle’s promise was quickly fulfilled at three when he established himself among the best of his generation. Three successive 1600-metre Group victories that year culminated with the Tokyo NHK Mile Cup G1, achieved in his trademark front-running style in a time of 1:33.2.
